Civil Engineering Department
The department is established in 1983. We have Thirteen different laboratories.
In Soil Mechanics Laboratory geotechnical investigations are undertaken for the projects undertaken by Government and private agencies with sophisticated equipments like Plate load test apparatus , triaxial test etc.
In Environmental laboratory we perform tests such as measuring air pollution parameters ,
tests related to potable water quality, testing and treatment of domestic and industrial effluents are undertaken.
We have exclusive computer laboratory available for department students with 18 computers of modern configuration and internet facility.
In Testing of materials laboratory we have Universal testing machine ,Compression testing machine ,Torsion testing machine, Hardness testing machines, Tile abrasion testing machine etc. available for testing of almost all the types of Engineering Materials.
Services are provided as proof consultant for verification of variety of Engineering Designs for Government and private agencies.
Our Fluid mechanics laboratory is equipped with open channel of 80 m length with all fluid Mechanics testing apparatus. Hydraulic machines laboratory with latest modern equipments like Pelton wheel turbine ,Francis turbine etc.
Regular testing as well as consultancy work undertaken for Government and Private agencies in all the laboratories.
Our Department also runs a Postgraduate course M.E.Civil ( Specialization in Structural Engg.).
We have consistently excellent results in Final Year University examinations with some University rank/s almost every year.
Department arranged seminar on 'Pollution prevention and control in Textile Industry' under national environmental awareness campaign.
We have done special projects of local importance for treating 'Bidi Industry' waste, consisting of 'Tendu' leaves' by method of composting by Vermiculture .
National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring project being run for Solapur city at two stations for last seven years.
Air quality monitoring at famous 'Gadda Fair' at Solapur for three years in succession.
Department continues to render testing facilities for Engineering Materials, soil etc. and consulting services to society, since inception of the institute to the satisfaction of all concerned.
