Student Activities

 

Three PG students have submitted their dissertations to the Uni-versity in this academic year.

1) Mr.J.S.Meghrabi- ‘Comparative study of alternative Structural Forms for Sugar Factory’ under the guidance of Prof. J.B. Dafedar. 

 

2) Ms. Swaroopa Gundeli- ‘Effect of Infills on the Behavior of Space Frames with Soft Storeys’ under the guidance of Prof. J.B. Dafedar. 

 

3) Mr.Diddi J.D.-‘Elastic-Plastic Analysis of Plane Continua Using Finite Element Techniques’. under the guidance of Prof.J.G.Kulkarni.

 

Paper presentation by the students:

 

(i)Mr  Ashish  Tikait and Mr . Kedar Wadekar of B.E.Civil class pre-sented a paper entitled ‘Innovations in Concrete and Concrete Technology’ , at the  State Level Paper Presentation Contest-‘ QUANTUM-2005’, organized by ‘Rajarambapu Institute of Tech-nology, Sakharale’ and won third prize in this contest.

 

 (ii) Miss.Afreen Bagwan and  Miss.Pallavi Kale of S.E.Civil class presented a paper entitled ‘Case study of Rehabilitation and Restoration’ at a paper presentation contest-‘PIONEER 2K4’ or-ganized by Kolhapur Institute of Technology’s College of Engi-neering Kolhapur’ and won the consolation prize. Prof. S.C.  Deshmukh guided the paper.

 

(iii) Miss.Afreen Bagwan of and  Miss.Pallavi Kale of S.E.Civil class presented a paper entitled ‘Canal Automation ‘ in ‘SEARCH-2005’ , a State Level Technical Paper Presentation Contest held by Pravara Rural Engineering College Loni, on 30th March 2005..

Prof.S.S.Kashid and Prof. S.C.Deshmukh guided the paper. 6th Maharashtra Sinchan Parishad was organized by ‘Sinchan Sahayog Solapur’ and Walchand Institute of Tech-nology Solapur on 5th and 6 th February 2005 .The follow-ing students of Civil Engineering department presented papers in the students’ session of the conference.

 

iv)  Miss.Afreen Bagwan and  Miss.Pallavi Kale S.E.Civil class pre-sented a paper entitled ‘Watershed Management in Drought Prone Area’ and won the second  prize in this contest. 

 

v) They also presented a paper entitled ‘Advanced Technology for Irrigation Management-Canal Automation’ in this conference.  Prof.S.S.Kashid and Prof. S.C.Deshmukh guided the papers. 

vi)Mr. Ashish Tikait and Mr. Kedar Wadekar B.E.Civil class pre-sented a paper entitled ‘Reuse of Waste water for Irrigation’ and won First  prize in this contest. Prof. S.S.Kashid guided the paper

 

vii) Miss.Archana Ghungurde and Miss. Sabah Jamdar of B.E.Civil class presented a paper entitled ‘Applications of Remote Sens-ing for Estimating Reservoir Sedimentation’ in this contest. Prof.  S.S.Kashid guided the paper. 

 

viii) Miss.Suvarna Thakare and P.Swetha of T.E.Civil class  pre-sented a paper entitled ‘Artificial Rain – Some relief for drought prone area’. Prof. S.S.Kashid guided the paper

 

ix)  Miss.Jyosna Phalke and Miss. Tamseel Pathan of S.E.Civil class presented a paper entitled ‘Reuse of waste water for irrigation’. Prof. S.S.Kashid guided the paper

 

x)Miss. Shreekanya Kharade of S.E.Civil class presented a p a-per entitled ‘Water Management In Rural and Urban Areas’. 

 

xi) Miss.Geet a Nagnath  of B.E.(Civil) and Miss,P.Swetha of T.E.Civil class  presented a paper entitled ‘Co-operative Water Users’ Associations in Irrigation Water Management’, in this contest.  Prof. S.S.Kashid guided the paper. 

 

xii) Miss.Prajakta Durugkar and Miss.Shubhangi Waghmare B.E.Civil class  presented a paper entitled ‘Applicatins of Remote Sens-ing in Irrigation Management’. Prof. S.S.Kashid guided the paper.

 

Visits :

 The students also visited Narsingpur aqueduct, Soundane deep cut along canal as well as different canal structures in Ujjani Canal command area. Prof.S.S.Kashid and Prof.  C.G. Konapure accompanied the visit.

 

Students of B.E.Civil class visited elevated service reser-voir under constuction near Government Polytechnic Solapur on 11 th March 2005 under guidance of Prof. S.S.Patil and Prof.C.G.Konapure.

 

Students of B.E.Civil as well as M.E.Civil Part -I classes visited ‘Versatile Pre-stressed Products factory’, near Mohol Rail-way Station. They also visited extension work of ‘Cimco Spinners Ltd’.  on 2nd April 2005 under guidance of Prof. S.S.Patil and Prof.C.G.Konapure.

 

Students of B.E Civil class visited fabrication and erection of steel truss of indoor stadium under construction near Guru Nanak Chowk Solapur. Prof.S.S.Patil and Prof.C.G.Konapure  accompa-nied the trip.  class visited fabrication and erection ofsteel truss of indoor stadium under construction near Guru Nanak Chowk Solapur. Prof.J.B.Dafedar and Prof.S.R. accompanied the trip.

 

Students of T.E. Civil visited Water Treatment Plant at Pakni near Chincholi M.I.D.C. under guidance of  Prof. G.K. Deshmukh and Prof.S.C.Deshmukh.

 

Students of T.E. Civil visited Sewage Treatment Plant at Degaon under the guidance of Prof. G.K. Deshmukh.  Students of S.E Civil visited various road construction sites on ambitious ‘Golden Quadrilateral’ road project along National High-way No.4( Pune –Banglore) near Kolhapur during 17 th to 20 th March 2005. They also visited Koyana dam and Koyana Hydroelec-tric Project-4 th stage. Prof. J.B.Dafedar and Prof.S.C.Deshmukh accompanied this educational tour.

 

Students of T.E. Civil visited a Commercial Complex in old Employment Chowk to study CPM PERT Implementation on 13 th April 2005 under guidance of  Prof. M.Y.Sathe.

Students of T.E. Civil visited Siddheshwar Sahkari Sakhar Karkhana to study Industrial Structure on 25 th April 2005 under guid-ance of Prof. Miss. Y.B.Deshmukh

Following expert lectures were organized by the CESA for benefit of the students.

Mr.Sachin Bhujbal from Grasim Industries Ltd.  delivered a lecture on ‘Quality Managemant on Site’ for the students of Civil Engineering on 26th August 2004.

 

Teachers Day was celebrated on 5 th Sept. 2004.

 Tree Plan-tation was undertaken by CESA. Also Students of S.E. (Civil) gifted frame of Dr. Vishveshwaraya to the Department.

Mr. Rashmin Pulekar delievered a lecture on Art of Living on 24 th Sept. 2004.

Mr.Sunil Shinde from A.C.C. Cement Ltd.  delivered a lec-ture on ‘Blended Cement’ on 6 th October 2004.

 

Dr. H.N.Somani delivered a lecture on ‘Conceptual Under-standing of Civil  Engg. Aspects’ on 12 th October 2004.

Prof. Yelikar from M.B.A. wing of Walchand College of Arts and Science on subject ‘Goal Setting’ on 14th   October 2004.

 

Mr. Chandrashekhar Joshi, Superintending Engineer of P.W.D .delivered a lecture on subject ‘Challenges in front of Civil Engineers’, on 26 th October 2004.

 

Prof. Dr.P.T.Sawant of  Walchand College of Arts and Sci-ence, Solapur delivered a lecture on ‘Tsunami’, on  28th January 2005.

Prof. S.S.Patil, CESA co-coordinator performed Demonstration of Total Station Equipment to the Students of Civil Engg. on 24th Feb. 2005.

 

Dr. Waghmare from V.M.Medical College, Solapur delivered a lecture on ‘Move for health’, on 15thMarch 2005.

 

Apart from arranging above guest lectures, the association celebrated ‘Teachers’ Day’ and ‘Engineers’ Day’ also. Tree planta-tion was done on the occasion of  ‘Teachers’ day’ at the hands of teachers and the students. The association arranged cricket matches for students of various classes as well as students and faculty mem-bers and the winners of the tournament were awarded ‘CESA TRO-PHY’.
