Staff Achievements
Publications by staff:
(i)A paper entitled ‘Passive Thrust On Retaining Wall (Terzagi Mechanism) ‘, written by Principal Dr.S.A.Halkude was published in April 2004 issue of Indian Geotechnical Journal( Volume 34, No.2,pp-123-140).
(ii)A paper entitled ‘Stability of Composite and Sandwich Beam-Columns by mixed Formulations’, by Prof.J.B.Dafedar was pub-lished in July 2004 issue of American Society of Civil Engineers’-‘Journal of Engineering Mechanics’.( Volume 130, No.7, PP 762-770)
(iii) A paper entitled ‘Pipe Networks for Canal Water Distribution’ was presented by Prof.G.K.Deshmukh in Sixth Maharashtra Sinchan Parishad organized by Sinchan Sahyoug Solapur and Walchand Institute of Technology Solapur on 5 th and 6 th Feb.2005.
(iv) A paper entitled ‘Development through Big Dams- Challenges posed by Reservoir Sedimentation’ was presented by Prof.S.S.Kashid in Sixth Maharashtra Sinchan Parishad orga-nized by Sinchan Sahyoug Solapur and Walchand Institute of Technology Solapur on 5 th and 6 th Feb.2005.
(v)Prof.S.S.Kashid presented a paper entitled “ Simulation of Res-ervoir Operation of a Complex Water Resources System’ in the International Conference -‘Hydrological Perspectives for Sustainable Development of Water Resources’ at Indian Institute of
Technology, Roorkee during 28th 30 th January 2005.

(d) Prof. J.B.Dafedar was invited as an expert for interviewing the candidates for
empanelment of Structural Engineers at Solapur Corporation.
Short term courses /conferences /workshops attended by our staff
Prof.S.S.Kashid participated in the international conference on -‘Hydrological Perspectives for Sustainable Development water Resources’ at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, during 28 th – 30th January 2005.
Prof.S.C.Deshmukh attended a short term course on sub-ject ‘Recent Advances in Environmental Engineering’ at Sabu Siddiki Polytechnic Mumbai.
Higher Education of Faculty Members :
Prof.J.B.Dafedar submitted his Ph.D. thesis to Indian Insti-tute of Technology Bombay, on 30 th December 2004. His research topic is ‘Thermo –mechanical buckling of laminated composite and sandwitch beams and plates by using mixed higher order formula-tions’. Prof. S.B.Gosavi was awarded membership of Institute of Engineers India (M.I.E.) in this academic year.
Expert Lectures by Our Faculty outside the institution:
Prof.S.R.Deshpande delivered a Lecture on the subject-‘Safety at Work’ for the members of ‘Construction Contractors Builder Forum’, Solapur. He also visited Mumbai-Pune express highway for studying landslides along the road.
Prof. G.K.Deshmukh delivered a Lecture at Solapur Mu-nicipal Corporation on the occasion of ‘Teachers Day’ for teachers of various municipal schools in Solapur City on subject ‘Environ-mental Management’.
