Cultural events

An education institution is never complete until the development of students is done in every aspect and that includes the

programmes and events, which provide students an opportunity to groom their personality on the whole.

It makes me proud to convey that in our college the students with the able guidance of  teachers conduct for the students

an ample numbers of programmes and opportunities.

The cultural activities of the year start with 5th  September – TEACHERS’ DAY that is an epitome of teachers-students relationship in our college.

Debate competition on burning issues, Essay competition on thought evoking topics, elocution competition, quiz competition, software contest for general awareness are the main events which mark the “Engineers’ week” which commences on the 15 th  of Sep- tember –Engineers’ Day.

Like every year, this year also the auspicious function of “GANESH UTSAV” was celebrated. In this function a STHAPNA pooja was done in beginning and after that every department followed with individual pooja and aradhna of LORD GANESHAS idol. At last “VISARJAN” was done with great pomp and show.

Come October and our students participated in the intercollege competition JALLOSH under the guidance of Prof. S.C.

Deshmukh. Other than winning the individual prizes for Group dance, ad-mad show and instrument playing We were the proud winners of the runners up trophy of the general championship.

By the end of the month we had a N.B.A. visit in our college and for their welcome and to prove the worth of our multitalented  students a cultural programme of song and dance, skits, musical skits was organized on 29 th  of October.

The beginning of 2 nd  semester bought out the best of W.I.T. as we were honored to be the host to  6th  Maharashtra Sinchan Parishad  organized by “Maharashtra Sinchan Sahayog” and “Walchand Institute Of Technology”, Solapur. Our students were active participant in the paper presentation competition and won the first and second prize. Moreover for the smooth conduction of the programme hundreds of students worked as committee members  of various committees for smooth organization of the conference. With the joint effort of W.I.T. and participant of Maharashtra sinchan parishad a cultural programme was conducted which was the flavor of the event and spread the essence of culture of Maharahstra everywhere.

Then came the most awaited and anticipated event of W.I.T. “UTSAV 2005” which was held from 5th  to 8th  of march along with the annual sports meet “STROKES”.

This year in Utsav as many as 500 students participated in various events and as many worked as the committee members to make the event a success. Events like Traditional Day, Personality

contest, Tug-Of-War, Antakshari and W.I.T. idol made the whole week a memorable one. Students form each department participated and a scenario of healthy inter department competition was seen everywhere. The week ended with Fun-n-Fair and the prize distribution of the event with Geetmala- (which is the fish pond) mark the perfect ending to the whole proceedings.

This year the annual cultural programme of variety entertainment “ATHARVA” was held on 7 th  of March and there were 6 group dances, 3skits,musical skits and orchestra in which an other dimension of the talent of our students could be witnessed.

Apart from this the W.I.T. proudly boast of being the trustful chapter of “SPIC MACAY” (Society For the Promotion of Indian clas- sical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), which is a student’s move-

ment, under the guidance of co-coordinator Prof. R.B. Kulkarni.

Apart from these the Career and Personality development Cell, Technical Film Society, ISTE, Computer Club are the other feathers in the cap of W.I.T. which had conducted various programmes, workshops and guest lectures throughout the year for the students under different fields of interest to excel.  For all these activities and events from the depth of my heart, I would like to mention that our beloved principal, secretary, management, all the respected H.O.D.’s, staff members do lend their time and moral support to the students who are ultimately responsible for the success of the event.

I hope that the same enthusiasm and zeal will be witnessed in our students and they will not only follow the tradition but also work to improve and enhance the tradition of W.I.T. on this note I will close the annual report of cultural activities 2005.
